  • Volvo eTruck.

In the cities of A Coruña and Zaragoza, the new electric tractors will travel up to 75,000 kilometers a year, with zero emissions.

The logistics and freight transport company Dachser has added two electric tractor units to its fleet with a range of up to 300 kilometers. With this initiative, Dachser takes a new step in its climate protection strategy, increasing the number of units of ecological vehicles throughout its European network.

With these new vehicles, which will be used in specific full load operations, the logistics company will be able to reduce its CO2 emissions annually. In Zaragoza, the operation will be “Non Stop”: the truck will circulate in three shifts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and being 100% electric will reduce its high fuel consumption and its strong environmental impact.

These high-end Volvo FH Electric tractor units can operate with a total weight of up to 44 tonnes and are prepared for long-distance journeys. Equipped with three electric motors, with powers of up to 490 kW (666HP), they have state-of-the-art batteries capable of recharging to 80% in just 30 minutes.

Continuing operations

Two drivers will take over operations in A Coruña, which will travel an average of between 35,000 to 45,000 km/year, with a wide range of operating hours from Monday to Saturday. On its routes it will link suppliers, warehouses and factories.

For its part, a total of three drivers will be in charge of the Zaragoza vehicle. Thus, they will travel about 30,000 km/year, with a continuous operating time range, that is, seven days a week and uninterrupted.

"Sustainability is one of the main pillars of Dachser and, therefore, it is a great pride for us to take another step towards the decarbonization of our operations with the implementation of two electric trucks in our facilities in A Coruña and Zaragoza," he indicates. Celestino Silva, Managing Director European Logistics Iberia of Dachser. And he concludes: "With the transition to alternative and efficient energies adapted to our transportation network, in this case the electrification of freight transportation, we are also attracting potential customers who identify with our values and missions."
