The international microtheater competition Badarán Que Hablar increases the amount of its prizes by 80%

The Badarán Que Hablar international microtheater competition has begun the period for receiving works for its ninth edition, where important new features have been introduced, such as an 80% increase in prizes, in order to support microtheater creators and recognize the quality, art and talent of the selected works.

The works selected by the jury will be represented by the five finalists on August 30 and 31, 2024 in wineries and other unique spaces in the Riojan town. The registration period will be open until June 1, allowing theater companies to present their proposals.

A significant increase in the value of prizes

To support the creators of microtheater and recognize the quality, art and talent of the selected works, the five prizes have been increased by 80%: The first of 3,000 euros (in addition to a contract with the Ministry of Culture to perform in a cultural program to be determined), 2,700, 2,500, 2,300 and 2,100 euros, respectively, and an additional prize of 800 euros for the best representation.

The association organizing the contest has encouraged companies to participate in various scenic languages, such as theater, puppets/marionettes, clown, performance, dance, magic, circus, stand up..., always in micro format, with a minimum duration of 9 minutes and maximum of 14.

The texts may have been previously performed or presented in other competitions, but if they have won awards, it must be indicated. Each work can have up to a maximum of 4 actors and a technician, and can present up to two works, but only one can be a finalist.

The objective of this project, which began in 2015, is to promote the creation and dissemination of theater in microtheater format, as well as to promote tourism and the cultural and social life of Badarán and the San Millán Valley, and for this association, without for profit, it is a unique activity that fuses theater and wine to create a memorable cultural experience.

Five simultaneous scenarios

The five finalist companies will perform their works a total of 20 times during the 2 days of the Contest (10 performances on Friday and 10 on Saturday), all starting at the same time in different spaces and with the spectators moving to different locations. premises and spaces of the town, (warehouses, warehouses, premises, schools).

Tickets sell out in minutes

With enormous expectation from a loyal audience, in all previous editions the nearly 700 tickets that were put on sale were sold out in minutes.

As every year, it will be the public who will decide the winners with their votes after visiting five unique stages in this municipality in La Rioja Alta with a population of 500 inhabitants, which is revitalized every year with the arrival of visitors and actors.
