Dachser connects Spain and Germany with two new daily groupage lines

The logistics operator Dachser has expanded the connection between Spain and Germany with two new daily groupage routes. The first route connects San Sebastián to Colonia, while, in the second, Zaragoza increases a direct connection with the Rheine delegation. These new routes are added to the more than 130 international routes of Iberia.

Despite the current demanding economic situation, Dachser is launching new logistics connections between its delegations, to consolidate its European groupage network and optimize the entire supply chain. In fact, it is between Spain and Germany where the network is growing these days, with new connections being launched daily. Thinking of its exporting clients from the Basque Country and Cantabria, the logistics operator has started a route that connects San Sebastián with Colonia, two economically important regions. This new direct line, which began operating in October with a daily frequency, joins the other six connections, also daily, that depart from this region, specifically from Bilbao and San Sebastián, to the German offices of Dachser in Malsch, Dortmund and Mannheim. These centers, for their part, offer daily connections to other European destinations: Dortmund, for example, is a connection platform to the Nordic countries and from Malsch, the connections are daily to Switzerland and the Eurohub in Bratislava (Slovakia).

From the Basque Country, Dachser has established 24 direct and daily international connections, with different European cities including Turin and Milan in Italy, Toulouse, Strasbourg, Nantes, Bordeaux and Paris in France, Mouscron in Belgium, Northampton and Dartford in England, Rathcoole in Ireland, Waddinxveen in the Netherlands and Bratislava in Slovakia.

Zaragoza is another of the cities from which Dachser has recently inaugurated a new groupage route to Germany, in this case to Rheine. "Until now, there was only one daily line from Zaragoza to Germany, with the destination of the Dachser branch in Malsch, although there are also connections with other European countries, such as France or Italy. Given the growth in the commercial volume of our clients with this country, We decided to increase with new direct connections to the German market”, explains Joaquim López, Head of Sales European Logistics Iberia at Dachser.

"Like most of our services to Europe, these new routes are managed with different operating models, such as the roundtrip "Round Trip" or the one-way "One Way" between Spain and Germany, which makes it possible to support both exports and imports of companies in the region", concludes the person in charge.

How does Dachser operate in Germany?

The complete DACHSER European Logistics network has, in Germany alone, a total of 40 own offices, thanks to which the logistics multinational can meet all the needs of its customers based on strict organizational and planning criteria.

The transport of goods is carried out with the usual double-decker "semitrailer" and "megabox" and also with double-decker swap bodies, which allows maximizing capacity and promoting sustainability, since larger volumes of goods can be transported in each trip. “A swap body, or swap-body, has a load capacity of up to 12.5 tons and up to 38 European pallets in total, using the double deck. This service is widely used, for example, by automotive, renewable energy or general consumer goods companies, but also by the chemical industry, as Dachser is qualified to transport dangerous goods”, explains Joaquim López. “Having scheduled daily departures to Europe is a clear advantage for our national clients who want to export or import merchandise. They can plan their shipments in advance, while also being able to rely on daily service for, for example, an urgent material need on a construction site or a stock shortage that needs to be met by quickly receiving and dispatching the goods."

Apart from the groupage service, Dachser in Iberia also offers the Direct Loads service for lots (LTL) and full load (FTL), from 60 delegations in Spain and 6 in Portugal.
