Cova Eirós shows that Palaeolithic art lasts beyond traditional areas and until 9,500 years ago

The first Palaeolithic cave paintings in Galicia were discovered at this site in 2011.

An article published in the Journal of Archeological Science: Reports reveals that the cave paintings of Cova Eirós (Triacastela, Lugo, Galicia) show that the stylistic tradition of Palaeolithic art lasts beyond traditional areas and up to 9,500 years ago. In this cavity are the last symbolic manifestations of the hunting and gathering societies.
