The construction of the new hub in the port of Alicante, which is scheduled to come into operation in the middle of next year 2023, is progressing as planned. With 14 million euros invested in the works, the logistics operator will employ more than a hundred people.

At the beginning of March, the German multinational Dachser began the construction of a new delegation in the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) of the port of Alicante, producing significant progress in the works in just eight months. Although the logistics operator took more than a year to obtain the building permit to build the facilities, the estimated deadlines for construction are not experiencing any delay, so the new logistics node is expected to be operational by mid-2023.

This platform - built on a 51,200 m2 plot and which will integrate an 11,300 m2 industrial warehouse and a two-story office building of approximately 2,000 m2 - has received an initial investment of 14 million euros and will be dedicated to the transport of goods by highway. As of today, the warehouse is finished on the outside, and the interior installations and equipment are in the execution phase. On the other hand, regarding the building that will house the offices, progress is being made in parallel in the construction of the exterior and interior façade, with finishes and electrical, air conditioning and plumbing installations. The exterior urbanization works are carried out as planned, having completed the exterior paving of the entire southern area and a large part of the northeast area of the plot; and the landscaping of various green areas has been left for a final phase.

The new logistics center, which will employ around a hundred people, will consolidate Dachser's position in the national and international transport scene, giving Alicante access to a global transport network, made up of more than 376 delegations in 42 countries, which serves the most important buying and selling markets in the world.

“At Dachser we always listen to our customers and seek to be even better. With the construction of this new logistics center, we take a step forward: we provide operational capacity and innovation, we respond to the needs of companies in the province of Alicante, distributing their merchandise to the rest of Europe with reduced transit times. We all know the entrepreneurial nature of the Alicante businessman and the importance of internationalizing his products in a globalized world like today's”, says Juan Carlos Medina, Branch Manager of the Alicante office.

Technological innovation and sustainability

The new office in Alicante is being built scrupulously following criteria of technological innovation and sustainability, following the same standards as the most modern Dachser logistics facilities in Europe.

This logistics node, equipped with a total of 112 loading and unloading berths adapted for long-distance and delivery vehicles, will also have two state-of-the-art systems for the automatic classification of parcels and pallets, capable of handling 4,000 packages/hour and 350 pallets/hour respectively, thereby improving the efficiency of the production chain.

Likewise, the platform will be equipped with a 100 Kw photovoltaic installation for self-consumption, and low-consumption lighting and air conditioning systems and intelligent control responsible for achieving greater energy efficiency. In line with its sustainable policy, the center will integrate charging points for electric vehicles, an initiative that aims to encourage the use of this technology by both customers and Dachser staff.
