Astrodisea 2026 turns the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark into an open-air observatory

The UNESCO Global Geopark Villuercas-Ibores-Jara is preparing to welcome visitors once again for Astrodisea 2026, a unique astro-tourism festival that combines astronomy, nature, culture and local gastronomy beneath some of the darkest and clearest skies in Europe.

The festival will take place from 10 to 19 July, with an opening event on 9 July featuring talks, astronomical observations and activities designed to introduce visitors to the wonders of the night sky.

Organised by member businesses of Geovilluercas, Astrodisea has become one of the flagship summer events in the geopark, offering an extensive programme that showcases the region's exceptional natural and astronomical heritage.

Recognised as a Starlight Tourist Destination, the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark provides ideal conditions for observing the stars thanks to its low levels of light pollution and outstanding environmental quality. The festival takes full advantage of this privileged setting, inviting participants to experience the night sky in a truly memorable way.

Throughout the ten-day programme, visitors will be able to take part in a wide variety of activities, including guided stargazing sessions, astrophotography workshops, night-time nature walks, family-friendly experiences, scientific talks and gastronomic events inspired by the cosmos.
