Astrodisea 2025: Nature, flavors, and starry skies in a unique experience in Villuercas-Ibores-Jara

From July 11 to 20, 2025, the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark will become the epicenter of a magical experience uniting nature, science, and the senses: the first edition of Astrodisea, an event celebrating the starry sky in one of the most privileged enclaves on the Iberian Peninsula.

Declared a Starlight Tourist Destination, this Extremadura park has been recognized for the purity and quality of its night sky, ideal for astronomical observation.

For ten days, Astrodisea will offer a full program of activities designed to connect with the universe from both a scientific and sensorial perspective. Attendees will be able to enjoy observations of the sky with the naked eye and through telescopes, learn the secrets of deep space and landscape astrophotography, and participate in SLOW hiking trails under the light of the moon and the glow of the stars, a way to reconnect with nature through calm and contemplation.

The program is complemented by more fun and original experiences such as a nighttime scavenger hunt and storytelling under the stars, inviting visitors to explore their imagination and the natural environment in a unique way. And for those who want to engage their senses in a unique way, outdoor wine and oil tastings have been scheduled, where the palate also takes center stage under the canopy of stars.

One of the highlights will be the "Star of the Designation" experience, organized by OleoExt, on Saturday, July 12 at 9:30 p.m. This time, an exclusive sensory tasting of Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Olive Oil with the Protected Designation of Origin will be held, in which sight will take a backseat to enhance the rest of the senses. By candlelight and the light of the night sky, participants will be able to discover the true "star" of this liquid gold, in an intimate and immersive atmosphere. The Ruiz Torres Winery is also enthusiastically joining in this stellar week with a unique evening on July 18, 2025, at 10:00 PM, at the Ruiz Torres Winery Viewpoint. In a privileged setting, attendees will be able to:

  • Contemplate the starry sky with astronomical explanations.
  • Taste their most special wines paired with delicious appetizers.
  • Enjoy live music under the stars.

Another must-see experience will be the magical evening organized in collaboration with Bodegas Cañalva, at the foot of one of their vineyards, completely free of light pollution. There, visitors will learn about the winemaking process from Claudia and Álvaro, passionate winemakers, and enjoy a guided wine tasting and pairing with local produce. The activity culminates with astronomical observation through telescopes and a complimentary nighttime photograph under the Milky Way or the crescent moon.
