The art gallery that breaks physical barriers and connects with a single click
The first edition of this gallery is called Hidden Gems and includes artists from the LGBTIQ+ community, neurodivergent painters, and even a posthumous artist from Chiapas. There are also creators from Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz.
Visitors to the digital gallery from anywhere in the world with an internet connection and a computer or mobile phone have the opportunity to experience, live and feel art in a different way, without leaving home. With the support of navigation arrows, they can navigate through the virtual rooms in 360 degrees, and there is the option of downloading information sheets on the artists and their works to learn more. For users with an iOS operating system, there is the added bonus of augmented reality; all they need to do is download the free application called artplacer to see on screen how the selected work would look on a wall in their favorite home or office.
There are more than 70 artistic expressions by 11 creators who, through techniques such as engraving, acrylic, pencil drawing, graphite and oil painting, tell stories that words cannot tell.
Diego, co-founder of Arte Zero, highlighted in an interview that the themes of the collections they present are universal such as love, death, healing, and heartbreak, “we have Carolina Varas with Desamor, the perpetual broken heart, here each of the pieces integrates the figure of the Mexican devil, like the presence of the person we have left behind. In the same line of loss we have Reimagining the archive by Marisol Ontiveros, she reimagines her memories with her mother whom she lost when she was a child, Entre sueños y raíces by Lindara presents those hidden fears and unspoken emotions, there is also Sergio Romero with Pop, works of nostalgia, love, and unconditional support, he visually interprets the sensations and images evoked by certain songs from pop culture, and Monitos by Alexis Contreras, he incorporates different Mexican motifs that portray the energy and spirit of Mexicanness.”
She added that “Arte Zero is a great opportunity to connect art collectors from around the world with Mexican talents whose work deserves to be seen and recognized” and said that for the second edition they will seek to integrate artists from other countries. For her part, Frida affirmed that the commitment will always be to diversity and they will continue to support “underrepresented sectors.”
